 System is starting with 1024x768, and the notebook is stretching the display.
This is the intel videobios bug. 

 As I've said in comment 4, have you tried adding

5c="1400 1050"
4d="1400 1050"

 to /etc/conf.d/915resolution and restarting ? That should fix it (and you
should still have the 1400x1050 resolution set in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf fiile).
